Believe it or not this was actually a remodel. The homeowners had a tired and dated pool from the early 90’s and wanted to add a spa and freshen it up. A quick heads up to all those thinking of potentially adding a spa to their existing pool. This is major major surgery, make sure you’re ready.
Although this was a remodel, we basically changed everything barring the shape of the pool. We added the spa, a baja shelf, altered the depth in the shallow end, changed the equipment, built new planters, and poured new decks. The lady of the house opted for a Spanish style tile for the waterline and spillway, the gentleman of the house wasn’t as keen, but he did want a quiet life, so Spanish tile it was.
The beauty of building pools in California is there’s very little rain, rain is the mortal enemy of pool construction. Unfortunately, this was one of the unlucky projects that fell foul to a short spell of rain. Luckily it caused only a minimal delay, and there was no damage done.
